(Finance) – The president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Susan Collinssaid it would be appropriate to start cutting interest rates soon to help preserve a still healthy labor market. “We have seen a significant reduction in inflation. The reduction, I think, is consistent with greater confidence that we are on that trajectory and with healthy labor markets in general, I think it will be appropriate to start easing soon” Collins said in an interview with Fox Business.
“I think that a gradual and methodical rhythm once we’re in a different political position it will probably be appropriate,” Collins added.
“I think the recalibration is starting to be important, but I would imagine it being done gradually,” he said in another interview with Bloomberg. There is no preset path“.
