Chic and elegant as you want, this hairstyle is THE trend to invest in for the fall. The advantage: it enhances many more faces than you might think.
It was impossible to have missed it, it was everywhere this summer. For several seasons now, the bob has unquestionably become THE haircut on which It-girls bet to breathe new life into their tired lengths. Versatile, it hugs the face perfectly and twists according to our moods and desires. Its latest variation? A very particular type of bob, mixing sophistication and vintage. Decryption.
Once feared, the bob is more than ever on trend this fall. Easy to maintain, it allows both fine hair to gain volume, creating a harmonious mass effect, and thick manes to be styled. Its graphic aspect can also compliment round faces by structuring the features. More recently, it is a very particular type of bob that has taken over the beauty sphere. It is distinguished by its shiny finish, its bouncy, almost curved ends, and its slightly degraded front strands.
Called the “old money bob” in homage to the French aristocratic women who regularly showed off their impeccable and healthy bobs, this hairstyle instantly gives elegance and refinement to the wearer. Indeed, it energizes even the dullest hair, giving it back its vigor and vitality. On her Instagram account, star hairstylist Suzi Angelina (@hair.by.suzi) explains all the steps you need to know to achieve it without making a mistake.
“I cut the bob just below the chin, so that it would frame the face when styled. I then cut a long fringe that would wrap around the face, just below the cheekbones, opening up the area and highlighting my model’s beautiful features. If you have a rounder face like me, I recommend cutting your fringe below the chin instead (be careful not to cut it too short though). If your fringe is too short, it can open up the jawline and make your face appear wider.” she confides.
In other words, to get a pretty old money bob, opt for clean lines, very slightly degraded. The goal is to have voluminous roots, defined ends and a radiant overall result. Cut everything below the jaw and you’re done! You can of course work the finish of your hairstyle with a glossy spray or a texturizing cream for even more relief.
