Featured feature coming soon to brighten up your desktop

Microsoft has just launched the deployment of an optional update for Windows 11 which brings a novelty in the management of desktop background images. Users will be able to choose the “Windows Spotlight” feature, which is already available for the lock screen. This function already allows the system to automatically and dynamically choose the photo to display on the lock screen. It will therefore also apply to the desktop background.

To activate it, just go to the Customization section of the operating system settings and choose “Windows spotlight” for the desktop background (click on the image below for the enlarge).

Windows Spotlight for desktop will be enabled by default on new machines and for new installations of Windows 11.

Its arrival proves that Microsoft can make changes in Windows 11, which is more modular than Windows 10, without having to wait for a major update to arrive. This explains why the publisher has chosen to offer a major release every year, rather than every six months. The next one, called 22H2 is normally scheduled around October.

This was also the case with the support for Android applications in Windows 11. Microsoft will thus regularly offer new functions between two annual updates of its operating system.
