The police fear a spiral of violence after the murder of a 34-year-old Swedish drug dealer in Turkey.
This weekend alone, at least two murders have occurred against people linked to the now dead man, according to information to Aftonbladet.
– There is a high risk of retaliation now, says a source.
On Monday, a 34-year-old Swedish man was shot dead in a parking lot in Kagithane outside Istanbul in Turkey.
With him was a woman who was beaten with the weapon.
Shortly afterwards, a 19-year-old Swedish man was arrested on suspicion of the murder, according to Aftonbladet’s information.
The man who was shot dead has been convicted of several crimes, and was detained in absentia on suspicion of having smuggled 115 kilos of cocaine into Sweden a few years ago.
It also appears that the man emigrated from Sweden a few years ago, according to documents that Aftonbladet has seen.
Details: Rival to Foxtrot
According to police sources, he is considered to have been one of Sweden’s biggest drug dealers. He is also believed to have been one of the gang leader Rawa Majid and Foxtrot’s biggest rivals.
Shortly after his death, the criminal network Foxtrot claimed responsibility for the murder.
On social media, people connected to the network have celebrated the death of the gang member, including by posting videos of rockets being launched.
At the same time, the 34-year-old’s father-in-law, a 52-year-old Swedish man, has recently been arrested in Turkey, according to information given to the Swedish police.
The 52-year-old has long been hunted by Swedish police and is in custody in his absence for several serious drug offenses and money laundering offences.
According to sources, he should have taken over the drug business after the murder of his son-in-law – but shortly afterwards he is believed to have been arrested, according to sources.
Fears revenge – at least two already
Now both police officers and people in the underworld fear that the murder of the 34-year-old will have consequences in the gang environment, because there has been a power vacuum when it comes to the drug market.
– After this shooting and the arrest, there is a high risk of new crimes. They will probably target high-ranking people in the gang world, says a source within the police.
Among other things, the police have stepped up and put in extra security at several addresses, which they fear could be exposed to acts of revenge.
A person with connections and insight into the criminal gang milieu says that even within the networks, people believe that people will want to avenge the 34-year-old’s death.
– Things will happen now. There may be a lot of revenge actions in Sweden going forward, says the person.
This weekend alone, two shootings at addresses in the Stockholm area have occurred. However, both are believed to be aimed at people with a connection to the murdered 34-year-old, according to information.
