It will be the third time that FC Utrecht and RKC will meet in the cup, and the first time in Waalwijk. FC Utrecht has always won against the Brabant team so far. In the 2003-2004 season the score was 3-1 in the eighth final, thanks to two goals from Stefaan Tanghe. FC Utrecht won the cup that year by beating FC Twente in the final.
