After eight minutes of football, Willem II took the lead. After a rebound from a long shot, Oelschlägel was just able to save, Jizz Hornkamp managed to make it 1-0. FC Utrecht failed to get into the match in the first half. There were only a few pinpricks via Tasos Douvikas and Pontus Almqvist.
