“Today the stadium and club are finally one,” said director Thijs van Es at the start of the press conference. “This is a historic moment.” The club has been playing in De Galgenwaard since the founding of FC Utrecht in 1970. “Utrecht’s sports heroes can be honored on the new stadium square. We hope to one day celebrate the victory in the Champions League here,” says Van Es.
