FC Lahti has fired the Portuguese head coach – the

FC Lahti’s new head coach is Gonçalo Pereira from Portugal.

Relegated to the first league, FC Lahti has hired a Portuguese as its new head coach by Gonçalo Pereira. Pereira’s contract with Kuhnurei is for two years, and it also has an option for the 2027 season. The coaching team includes Kari Arkivuo and João Pires.

The 35-year-old Pereira will move to Lahti from Kokkola’s Pallo-Veiko, for whom the Lahti club will pay a transfer fee. Last season, he led the Kokkola club to the promotion qualifiers. Pereira also has experience in coaching in Norway, Sweden and Latvia.

FC Lahti’s press release says so the chairman of the board Mika Halttunen as well as the new head coach say that the goal is to bring the club back to the Veikkausliiga. The coach promises to bring a very aggressive and powerful team to the field.
