Saturday’s only football Veikkausliiga match ended with AC Oulu’s home win over FC Inter with numbers 1–0. He scored the winning goal in the opening period Jake Dunwoody.

The start of Inter’s season was difficult, but lately the club has been on a roll. The team arrived in Oulu with an unbeaten streak of six matches and as the number one in the fitness rankings.

The bitter defeat meant that Inter’s chances of reaching the top six and the championship were reduced. The people of Turku still have three matches to climb past the VPS. Vaasa are three points ahead of Inter.

Getting into the top six would mean that Inter could still play for medals at the end of the season. It would also be able to play for next summer’s European places with certainty.

For Oulu, the win is important, as the team made a point difference at the tail end of the series. Second-to-last IFK Mariehamn is now five points away from Oulu.
