Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump the man who shot in July had searched the internet for both Trump and the president Joe Biden campaign events, says a representative of the US federal police, the FBI Kevin Rojek.
Biden was still the Democratic presidential candidate at that time.
FBI representatives tell the Reuters news agency that the 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks had made a significant effort to attack some sort of significant gathering before deciding that that gathering was a Trump campaign event.
According to Rojek, despite extensive interviews, the FBI still does not have a definitive idea of Crooks’ motive. According to the FBI, Crooks seems to have espoused aspects of different ideologies, and he does not appear to have leaned left or right.
Crooks was shot by police after he shot Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.
