Former US President Donald Trump says that his property Mar-a-Lago in Florida has been searched by the US Federal Police FBI.
The circumstances are unclear, and neither the FBI nor the Justice Department have commented on the case.
The US National Archives said in February that it had received 15 boxes of documents from Trump’s residence in Palm Beach, Florida. According to The Washington Post, they contained classified documents that Trump took with him after the election loss.
The documents were supposed to be handed over by law at the end of his presidency but ended up at Mar-a-Lago.
Two people with knowledge of the matter confirm that agents searched for such documents during the search. Trump writes in his long post that the agents also broke into his safe.
Trump describes the search on his Truth Social network as an “attack by radical left-wing Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for president in 2024.”
