[Mis à jour le 11 juillet 2024 à 23h46] The 13th edition of the “Favorite Village of the French” crowned the village of Collioure in Occitania. Among the 14 French candidates (13 in metropolitan France, 1 overseas), Collioure is ahead of the villages of Mers-les-Bains in Hauts-de-France and Villeréal in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and becomes the first commune in the Pyrénées-Orientales department to win the trophy for “Favorite Village of the French” awarded by the presenter Stéphane Bern on France 3.
The village of Collioure with its authentic charm in the Catalan Country seduces with its bay with turquoise water, surrounded by terraced vineyards, its small port and its Catalan boats, its alleys of the Mouré district with its colorful houses. The winner of the 2024 edition of “The French People’s Favorite Village” is Collioure in the Pyrénées-Orientales in the Occitanie region.
The media exposure that candidate villages receive has certain repercussions in terms of tourist numbers. “The real wealth of these territories is also the people who live and work there. We promote the territories by showing the tangible heritage, with the buildings, and intangible heritage such as local specialties” Stéphane Bern emphasized to Paris Match. Voting was open from 10 a.m. on February 19, 2024 to 11:59 p.m. on March 8, 2024, the date of the election of the “French people’s favorite village”. Viewers could vote for their favorite village among the 14 in the running, online or by telephone at 3245, by entering the village number (from 1 to 14). The vote was made public during the 13th edition of the show presented by Stéphane Bern on France 3, on July 11, 2024.
