On Saturday evening, the fifth and final part of the Melodifestivalen took place in Karlstad.
Marcus & Martinus and Medina were favorites to go directly to the final, and at nine o’clock it was clear that the twin duo had received the most votes during the evening’s competition. It is the second year in a row that Marcus & Martinus has succeeded in the feat of going directly to the final.

The evening’s program has been extended by half an hour to make room for the new program item “final qualification” which replaces the old semi-final, also known as “second chance”. In the final qualification, the threes and fours from all sub-competitions are given the chance to settle for the last two final places.
