The director general believes that the increase is due to the fact that there are shortcomings in the companies’ systematic work environment work, but also that the “should only” culture poses a threat. It is worst during certain times of the day, according to Erna Zelmin.
– At the end, you have worked a whole day and you are tired. And in the morning you may not have really got your body going, she says.
In the last decade up to and including 2020, the long-term trend was that fatal occupational accidents became fewer. But in the last three years, the trend has gone in the opposite direction. Already in August, 2023 is counted as the worst of the last three, with 33 deaths.
