Use your charm for better merchant prices

What does charisma do in action? The streamer’s character has most likely lost significant amounts of gold, since charisma plays a crucial role in trading.

This attribute not only affects attempts at persuasion, but also has a direct impact on trade prices. Characters with higher Charisma enjoy the benefit of receiving better offers.

With a high Charisma you can:

  • Buy items for a lower price from the merchant
  • Sell your items at a higher price
  • So it is best to send a character with high charisma to the traders – for example a bard. It’s worth it and there are a lot more NPCs that can trade than you think.

The Charisma value is taken from the character who starts the interaction. The character’s Charisma modifier determines the prices, regardless of which character is carrying the items. So you could switch between the inventories at will.

  • A bard with a Charisma score of 20 has better negotiating skills than, for example, a monk with a terrible Charisma score.
  • What else affects the price? Another way to lower the trading prices for your goods is to build a good relationship with the respective merchants. In this way you can also reduce the trade prices.

    How do I do it?

  • More difficult option: Giving gold or items to the merchants increases your sympathy. Sympathy can reach a maximum of 100. But it’s only worth it if you really buy a lot from the respective dealer.
  • Easy Option: Go to game settings and decrease difficulty before interacting with a merchant. The article costs are thus automatically reduced without you needing sympathy points. I don’t think it’s the coolest solution for a proper RPG experience – it just doesn’t feel authentic.
