Faster than sound! They call him “son of Concorde”: he’ll cut the 7-hour journey to 3.5 hours

Faster than sound They call him son of Concorde hell

Concorde is known as the world’s first supersonic aircraft. It worked for 27 years, but was demolished in October 2003, never to be used again. But aviation enthusiasts’ love of Concorde never ceased. Some firms showed off new supersonic jets dubbed “Son of Concorde”. NASA even conducted tests of a scaled-down version of the X-59 QueSST supersonic aircraft dubbed “Concorde’s son.” But there is another supersonic jet called “Son of Concorde”; And that’s Boom Supersonic’s big project, “Overture.”

HERE IS THE “SON OF CONCORDE” OVERTURE!

According to the news in the British Daily Express, Overture will be able to travel on water at speeds of up to Mach 1.7 (2,092 km/h) and carry between 65 and 80 passengers. The aircraft will fly without afterburners to minimize noise and fuel consumption. It will also run on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

NEW YORK-LONDON FLY WILL NOT BE LONG THAN 3.5 HOURS

Flights between New York and London, which take about 7 hours on regular planes, are said to be prime candidates for Overture’s first flights, with travel times expected to take no more than three and a half hours. The plane is also likely to take a longer route from San Francisco to Tokyo in just 6 hours.

Boom Supersonic plans to start production of Overture, 70 of which have already been sold, in 2024. Its first flight is expected to take place in 2026.
