(Finance) – Italian Fashion Federation-Confcommerciothanks the Minister Adolfo Urso For the invitation to the Fashion Table and the opportunity to represent the voice of retail businesses, an essential and too often overlooked pillar of the supply chain.

The President of the Italian Fashion Federation-Confcommercio, Giulio Fellonistates: “We ask the Government urgent policies to support the neighborhood tradeessential for the economy and community life, and we are ready to collaborate with concrete proposals to stop this crisis. Among the proposals for the relaunch of fashion retail trade: 1) Tax relief for micro businesses of commercial retail distribution who set up shop in vacant premises. 2) Incentives for fashion consumption with a tax deduction for the purchase of sustainable fashion products in physical stores or application of a reduced VAT rate. 3) Reduction of rental costs including a flat rate tax conditioned on the reduction of rents, through agreements between the landlord and the tenant”.

For the Vice President Marisa Tiberio spoke at the Fashion Table at MIMIT: “Fashion sales recorded in 2024 a significant decline, aggravated by unfair competition from web giants and often by the casual commercial practices of some suppliers, who do not respect the principle of ‘same market, same rules’. In the last 5 years, fashion retail has lost almost 20,000 stores and over 15,000 jobs, with a 10% contraction in family consumption for clothing and footwear. Without targeted interventions, the entire Made in Italy supply chain risks suffering serious repercussions.”
