(Finance) – In 2021 the textile-fashion supply chain reveals a favorable evolution, leaving behind the negative trend accused in 2020. Among the driving sectors is the Italian industry of fashion woman (women’s clothing, women’s knitwear, women’s shirts and women’s leather clothing): based on the first estimates made by the Confindustria Moda Study Center, after closing 2020 down by 18.9%, 2021 is expected to recover by at least 19.3% on the previous year. This dynamic should lead to the revenue sectoral about 13.5 billion euros, 3.2% lower than the levels reached in 2019 (close to 14 billion). This performance is more positive than that expected for men’s fashion and widespread last January (+ 11.9% on 2020, but -9.9% on 2019).
By focusing on the dynamics of exports, after a first semester that saw a rebound by 27.6%, women’s fashion continued on its growth path, despite witnessing a slowdown. During the period January-October 2021 the foreign sales sectors grew by 19.2%, reaching approximately 8 billion.
Even the imports womenswear are once again affected by a positive trend – however at a slower pace than exports – to the extent of 6%, reaching approximately 4.4 billion. The trade balance for the period therefore amounts to almost 3.6 billion.
