Legendary gems are one of your main sources of power in Diablo Immortal. There are many rumors about Pay2Win about them. MeinMMO explains how you can get the items without paying.
Where can I get Legendary Gems? As of now, there are 5 sources to get Legendary Gems:
Precisely because of the elder portals, there are serious Pay2Win allegations against Diablo Immortal because you are guaranteed to get gems for legendary emblems. The emblems are easy to buy.
However, you can also simply earn the popular stones and even the best legendary gem in the game. However, getting there can take time and is not necessarily obvious. We explain each step in detail and all the currencies you need to do it.
What you still need to know about the Legendary Gems and how to get them, you can see here in the video:
Farming Legendary Gems – Tips and Tricks
How to farm Legendary Gems: If you want to actively farm Legendary Gems, you’ll need to go through Elder Portals and boost them with Emblems. There are two types of emblems:
It doesn’t matter how many emblems you use. The rewards scale linearly, so you get the same rewards for 3 portals with one emblem as for a portal with 3 emblems.
You can buy legendary emblems for real money in the shop, but both ways also work completely free of charge.
How do I do this for free? Legendary Emblems are free in the Battle Pass at level 20 and available once a month from the Hilt Vendor in Westmark. There is an emblem for 1,600 hilt. You mainly get help:
As part of the Shadow faction, you can earn more Legendary Emblems in the Shadow War. This takes place every week between the best shadow clans to choose new immortals if necessary.
If you are part of the Immortals, you can purchase an additional Legendary Emblem each month from the Hilt Merchant. If your clan becomes immortal, you should make a pilgrimage to the dealer immediately. You can find out more about factions in our Shadows and Immortals guide.
You can also get rare emblems in the Battle Pass, daily at the Elder Portal and also for Hilt at the dealer. The rare emblems are also limited, but available in significantly larger numbers.
Rare emblems are more important than you think
While there’s a lot of criticism in the community that only Legendary Emblems really give an advantage, Rare Emblems aren’t entirely useless. In addition to the chance of a gem, you will also get guaranteed runes and a larger yield of Extinguishing Sparks.
The ashes are only available in the portals and you need them to buy more runes. This is where it gets complicated, because the dozens of different runes can lead to confusion.
Broken down: You need runes for the production of legendary gems. This system is actually your best source for the absolute best gems you can get in the game if you don’t want to pay.

Crafting Legendary Gems – All Materials Explained
What gems can I craft? Each jeweler gives you the option to craft one-star, two-star, or “up to 5-star” legendary gems.
Gems with a fixed number of stars can be recognized by the fact that their stars are filled and gold. They can be made either directly on request or randomly, but always with a fixed number of stars.
Other gems will have empty stars in the stars or grayed out after the filled star to indicate they are not at their maximum.
What do I need? For the production of all gems you need different runes:
You get all runes from elder portals with rare emblems. Each Emblem grants you 4 random Runes other than Fa and 1 Extinguishing Spark. Fa Runes can only be obtained from the Extinguishing Sparks vendor right next to the portal.
You can get the sparks from Elder Portals even if you don’t use Emblems. So you are guaranteed between 8 and 11 sparks for each run. One Fa Rune costs 18 Extinguishing Sparks:
Craft Gems with 5 Stars – You have to pay attention to this
When you use the option to craft a random “up to 5 stars” gem, that’s what it means. You are not guaranteed to get 5 stars. The chance of that happening is actually relatively small.
The notorious “5* Gems” have a chance to drop or be crafted with fewer stars. So if you read something about a “2/5 Star” in the chat at some point, then you know that a gemstone with a potential 5 possible stars, but only 2 actual stars is meant.
Nevertheless, it is advisable not to wait until you have the “perfect stone”. When upgrading, the invested gem power accumulates and you can even increase the stars of the gems as soon as you have found a gem with more stars.
Upgrades are always worthwhile, because you can simply use the stone later to upgrade other gems. The gem power used also scales linearly, so it is fully retained. Potentially 5-star gems are usually necessary or useful for builds even without their full power.
