What is this item? Frozen Scream was introduced in Diablo 3 with Season 26. The concept was so well received that the seasonal theme will stay in the game forever. Now, in Season 28, the item is important to unlock level 14 at the Altar of Rites.

Frozen Scream Drop – Where can it be found?
Here you farm: The Frozen Scream can drop from Greater Rift bosses. There is no other source and no other locations for the screams. Only the Greater Rifts. No bounties, no normal rifts.
There are no major requirements to get the parts. All you have to do is reach level 70 and kill the boss in Greater Rifts.
What is the drop chance? It’s relatively low. Although there are no official figures, it is assumed to be around 5%. It is generally recommended to play Greater Rifts, which you can complete quickly. According to current knowledge, the GR level has no influence on the drop rate of the Frozen Screams.
What is that good for? As the tooltip of the item already explains, you can use the Frozen Scream to transmute it into Kanai’s Cube. Then a portal will open that you can go to as a group or solo. The “Resounding Nightmare” event awaits you there, spawning waves of monsters. Depending on which level you reach there, you will receive the corresponding loot.
In Season 28 Frozen Scream can be used in other ways. The new seasonal theme, the Altar of Rites, allows you to unlock specific powers and potion powers. All levels have different requirements to activate the seals.
At level 14 you should use a Frozen Scream to unlock the seal. So be sure to keep one of these items if you want to progress in the altar.
