Färjestad is chasing high-profile new acquisitions for the coming season.
Now comes new information on a real prestige signing that is of interest.
When FBK wants to attract a Swede from North America, according to Värmland’s Folkblad.
Already in the quarter-finals, Färjestad BK had to leave this year’s SM play-offs after being eliminated by rival Frölunda over seven games. Therefore, the desire for revenge is great for the upcoming SHL season and the squad building is already underway to find high-profile new acquisitions.

Now a seasoned prestige recruit has been singled out for the FBK camp. Färjestad has a back position that needs to be filled until next season after the signings of Magnus Nygren and Jonathan Andersson.

The vacant spot can actually become NHL meritorious Carl Dahlström who is rumored to return to Swedish hockey again. It is the local newspaper Värmlands Folkblad that reports that the 28-year-old defender is highly interested in a move to Karlstad.

67 NHL games
Dahlström left Swedish hockey in 2016 and has played in North America since then. The grown-up defender has belonged to the NHL teams Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs, where there have been a total of 67 games and 12 points in the world’s best hockey league.

But mostly there have been games in the AHL for the farm teams and Dahlström has scored as much as 236 games and 73 points in the league during the NHL. Last season, the Swede was ruined by a shoulder injury and there were only eight games in the AHL for the 28-year-old.

Now Carl Dahlström may have done his thing in North America and is thus eligible for a move back to Sweden again after seven years on the other side of the Atlantic. He has previously played for Linköping in the SHL and Djurgården at youth level – now it could be Färjestad.
