Färjestad is chasing reinforcements.
Now interest in NHL Swede Marcus Johansson is confirmed.
– It feels good, says sports director Rickard Wallin.
After many years of waiting, Färjestad, earlier in the spring, finally lifted the Le Mat trophy as Swedish champion. It was done after a thrilling final against Luleå, and many have now tipped FBK as a great power to count on for many years to come.
Confirms contact
And you are not directly on the lazy side when it comes to recruiting. On Tuesday, the news came that the back star Theodor Lennström, who spent the spring in FBK, is breaking his contract in the KHL and has received a contract proposal from Färjestad.
But the club will also have a new star center, and it is an interesting name to say the least. Now the club confirms contact with the NHL Swede Marcus Johansson, who last year played in the Washington Capitals.
– I’ve talked to Marcus and we know where he stands and he knows where we stand. It feels good, says Rickard Wallin to VF.
“We dream of it”
However, Färjestad are honest with Johansson hoping for continued play in the NHL.
– As I understand it, he has the ambition to stay in the NHL, he also has quality for that. Until that chapter is over, it is purely hypothetical, but we certainly dream that he will return to Färjestad and he knows that, says Wallin.
Marcus Johansson’s brother, Martin, played in Färjestad last season – but has now had to leave. It can be a problem to get Marcus home, Wallin says.
– Of course I understand that he may be disappointed that Martin was not allowed to stay considering that they dreamed of playing together. At the same time, our decisions cannot be influenced by an individual player, he says.
