The Lahti team Pelicans met Färjestad in their home game in the hockey CHL and suffered a 0-5 knockout loss.
Färjestad took the shots on goal 25–13. Pelicans took seven ices, of which Färjestad punished two hits. The Pelicans had three overtime attempts.
All goals were scored in a 14-minute period in the second period.
Among the Finnish teams, Tappara started earlier by beating Sparta Praha in the winning goal race. Ilves started with an overtime win against Poland’s Unia Oswiecim.
