Färjestad breaks the silence about the Swedish star – rumored to want to make a cheeky recruitment coup and snuff out rival Frölunda

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

They settled for the semi-final place in the SM finals.
Much suggests that Färjestad and Frölunda will also settle for the same star player for the coming season.
Now Färjestad is speaking out about the dream signing.

The quarter-final series between Färjestad and Frölunda was really hot, and it took seven games to advance a team to the semi-finals. The series was perhaps even hotter given the news that had come out earlier in the spring.

Rumored to SHL

Gustav Rydahl is associated with Färjestad and that is where the Swedish star played before he left for the NHL. Many were therefore surprised when the information came that Frölunda had won the battle for the player, who thus looks set to play his continued ice hockey in Gothenburg instead of Karlstad.

The Färjestad supporters were, of course, upset by the news, but it didn’t take long before information came about a perfectly fine act of revenge. The star player Carl Klingberg has played in Switzerland for the past seven seasons, but he has opened up to a move back to the SHL, and over the years there has been mostly talk about Frölunda being relevant then. According to Aftonbladet, however, Färjestad has also shown its interest, and it would be a real reinforcement that would really rekindle FBK’s hopes for gold next spring.

Wallin’s first words

But how close is it really? After Aftonbladet came up with the information, it has been quiet, but now, for the first time, sports director Rickard Wallin is speaking out about the whole thing.

– There are many aspects to take into account. We’ll see what we land in, but what we need above all are centers and backs. Those are the positions that are vacant and we’ll see how the whole thing lands after that, says Rickard Wallin to the newspaper.

Wallin also gets a question about whether Färjestad is interested if Klingberg were to return home, but even this time Wallin is cautious.

– I have no comments about players like that. We try to work on having that dialogue directly with the players who might be interesting for us. So we’ll see what we land in when the job is done, so to speak.
