Far from Venice, Barcelona and crowded beaches, these European destinations spared by surcourism are perfect for summer holidays! Between calm, culture, nature and gastronomy, it’s time to enjoy it!

With the summer holidays that are fast approaching, many of us seek the ideal destination. Europe seems to be all designated for this, since it offers panoramas as diverse as they can do and an abundant cultural heritage, all, without needing passport to get there! However, some destinations undergo the setbacks of their popularity. Mass tourism, environmental degradation and tensions with the premises put several cities and regions to the test. In the end, this excessive influenza harms visitors as well as the quality of life of residents.

Among the places invaded by tourists, we find Saint-Tropez (France), with up to 80,000 visitors per day in summer. This is also the case of Venice (Italy), Seville (Spain), Porto (Portugal), the island of Santorini (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey) and Dubrovnik (Croatia), to name a few. The authorities may restrict access to certain places or set up tourist taxes, nothing helps!

Rather than visiting already overflowed sites, favoring less -known destinations helps to better distribute the impact of tourism and avoid many drawbacks. Europe is full of unknown towns and villages, with magnificent landscapes, which constitute ideal destinations for just as enriching trips without the rush of summer crowds. The British daily newspaper The Telegraph has drawn up a list of European destinations which are still spared from surcourism. It may give some ideas!

In France, the British daily strongly recommends the Moselle, which has bucolic landscapes and a rich heritage. Picturesque villages like Rodemack and Sierck-les-Bains, the fortifications of the Maginot line and the magnificent cathedral of Metz are obligatory passages from this still preserved territory of mass tourism.

For those who dream of visiting Venice, it is rather advisable to fall back on the neighboring region L’Ombrie. Often called the green heart of the country, it is renowned for its medieval cities perched on reliefs, dense forests and local cuisine. Perfect for living lazing away from tourist turmoil!

In Spain, if Seville is invaded by the crowds, it is enough to move away towards the Estremaduure to find a much more preserved Iberian peninsula. We have the certainty of enjoying a warm and sunny summer, and the pleasure of immersing ourselves in the cultural richness of the country with cities like Cáceres and Trujillo, with their beautiful palaces and their churches.

For those who seek to escape from a Greek paradise, the island of Amorgos, in the Cyclades, is all designated, with its steep trails, its monastery suspended above the sea and its many small taverns. Same atmosphere on the side of the Pelješac peninsula, in Croatia, with its renowned vineyards, its peaceful villages and its beautiful criminal coves.

Obviously, this is only a small selection, not exhaustive! We could still speak of Albania, Slovenia, Lithuania and all these under-category European countries, which however have so much to offer. In short, the best way to discover preserved places is to go off the beaten track and avoid places whose photos flood social networks.
