Ubisoft has started to develop the Far Cry Extraction-based multiplayer Spin-Off project from scratch. The future of the project remains uncertain.

However, according to information, this project, known as “Maverick” code, was completely reset and returned to the prototype stage. The game, which was first planned as a side mode for Far Cry 7, was later turned into an independent spin-off. However, due to the problems in the development process, the project has undergone major changes.
Why was Far Cry Extraction restarted?
According to Insider Gaming, who shares leaks from the game world, the Far Cry Extraction project, directed by Ubisoft Montreal, was initially announced in 2023. The game would have a structure like Escape from Tarkov, where players gathered resources to survive in the wild nature and struggled with other players. Alaska’s fictional version “Alaschnica” is planned to pass in an area called, artificial intelligence soldiers, wild animals and enemy players, such as many threats.
However, the project was stopped due to the difficulties in the shift of technical teams to other departments and the difficulties in the development process. In particular, the technical team called Talisker, who is responsible for the development of Maverick, was directed to work for Far Cry 7. This paved the way for the restart of the project and Maverick returned to the prototype stage.
Far Cry Extraction, which has not been announced a new release date, is currently being developed with the support of Ubisoft Montreal, as well as Ubisoft Sherbrooke and Berlin teams. Insider Gaming, however, said that many developers working in the project were shifted to other projects and about 50 employees expect to be appointed to a new mission.
Ubisoft’s process full of these cancellations and restarts was seen in other projects of the company. For example, The Division Heartland, which was canceled last year, faced problems in a similar way in planning.
