Fantasy Genius Tim Burton Criticizes Summer’s Big Superhero Surprises (and It’s Totally Understandable)

Tim Burton is an exceptional director whose look became widespread through films like Edward Scissorhands. Among other things, he also worked with Michael Keaton on several Batman films and should with Nicolas Cage

bring a Superman blockbuster to the cinema.

He was now able to see both stars in their superhero roles in The Flash in the cinema. a film, in which he had no say whatsoever. Which, understandably, doesn’t suit him at all.

He compared using his characters in The Flash to using AI copies to Variety:

They take something you did, Batman or whatever, and culturally abuse it. You’re already a slave to Disney or Warner and they can do whatever they want. Now I’m fighting against it internally.

Speaking to The Independent, the director also criticized the use of AI copies of Disney characters to resemble his style: “I remember other cultures saying: Please don’t take a picture, it steals my soul.”
