34 years after the fantasy classic Willow, Disney+ is giving fans a sequel to the series. The new adventure Willow offers a reunion with many favorites from the 1988 cult film, but with Val Kilmer’s Madmartigan, one of the most important seems to be missing. But the community should not give up hope.
Willow maker reassures fantasy fans: Val Kilmer should also return to Disney +
This is now confirmed by the statements made by series creator Jonathan Kasdan to Vanity Fair.
It seemed too sad and wrong to all of us to just let Madmartigan die. As a result, it doesn’t appear in the world […], but returns in a meaningful way at the end of the season, so that future performances are possible.
Kilmer’s throat cancer has made his work difficult for some time. Nonetheless, his role as a shabby knight in Willow certainly holds special meaning for him. Finally, he met his future wife Joanne Whalley while filming in the late 1980s.

How exactly Kilmer”[nicht] occurs in the world“, but should still appear, Kasdan does not explain further. In the action highlight Top Gun 2, his return made for a grandiose scene. Perhaps by the end of the season, Willow will achieve the same goal.
When will the next Willow episodes be out?
The fantasy series Willow has been around since November 30, 2022 at Disney+. New episodes appear every Wednesday. The eighth and final episode will be made available on January 11, 2023.
