With Ginny & Georgia, Netflix has produced one of the most watched series of 2023. But after season 2, there was great fear of cancellation among fans. Only after four months of worry did the surprise come: the streaming service immediately ordered two more seasons.
Since then, things have become suspiciously quiet around Ginny & Georgia. Over a year after the start of Season 2, there is no trace of Season 3. And now we know: There won’t be any new episodes to watch any time soon.
There is no trace of Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia: Where is season 3?
Ginny & Georgia is about the eponymous mother-daughter team trying to make a new start in a small American town in New England. But Mama Georgia’s (Brianne Howey) numerous secrets threaten her newfound happiness in Wellsbury. The series was praised, among other things, for its handling of the topic of mental illness.

The series was a surprising success for Netflix. Ginny & Georgia came in second place among the streamer’s most watched series in the first half of 2023 with over 665 million hours watched (via Netflix). She was only beaten by the spy hit The Night Agent. The extension for two more seasons was therefore hardly surprising.
But where is season 3? The reason for the severe delay is quickly found. Last year, the screenwriting and acting unions went on strike in Hollywood, which put numerous series and film productions on hold for months. But little has happened to the Netflix series since then.
As What’s on Netflix reports, they should Filming for season 3 won’t begin until next April start and last until September 2024. This means that Ginny & Georgia will not be returning with new episodes this year. It is not yet known whether seasons 3 and 4 will be filmed one after the other.
When does Ginny & Georgia season 3 start on Netflix?
A specific start date is still pending. But what is certain: Ginny & Georgia Season 3 will premiere on Netflix in 2025. For fans, this means a break of two years before the common cliffhanger in season 2 is resolved.
Warning, spoilers for season 2: At the end of season two, Georgia seemed to have found happiness. But during her wedding to Paul, she is arrested by the police for Tom’s murder. Who betrayed her? And how does she get out of this situation? We’ll have to wait a while for answers.
