Netflix recently released new action flick Extraction 2. A few Call of Duty: Warzone fans are reminded of the Battle Royale.
What kind of film is this? The new action hit Extraction 2 has been online on Netflix since June 16, 2023. Marvel’s Thor actor Chris Hemsworth shoots his way through all odds and plays a presumed-dead mercenary who saves a group of people with his team.
The comic book sequel runs a good 2 hours and does reasonably well – 7.2 on IMDb and 76% on Rotten Tomatoes.
A small discussion has also developed in the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit. Comparisons with Battle Royale and Extraction mode DMZ are drawn.

What do Warzone viewers say about this? In a thread on Reddit, CoD fans are talking about the film, and players who’ve seen the film see many parallels to a match in CoD’s Battle Royale — specifically DMZ mode (via Reddit.com).
For example, the thread creator C4ptainchr0nic writes: “In many ways there are similarities with DMZ.” HartyFL also sees it similarly: “The whole time I thought this is Live Action-CoD.”
The exaggerated comparisons to the gameplay should not be missing here either. ARM7501 writes: “Extraction 2 is literally like a round of DMZ. Someone gets surrounded by 100 guys, they all throw Molotovs and you have to hit the bad guys (Tier 3 AI) a good 10 times to kill them.”
The focus on the action of Extraction 2 is also often praised. The film is something for uncompromising action fans who appreciate fast scenes taking center stage and the story running alongside.
