The Summer Game Fest is approaching and the rumor mill is bubbling. Particularly exciting for MMORPG fans: An alleged image from the PlayStation Store shows a new console version of New World!
What exactly can be seen in the PlayStation Store? In the meantime, the entry in Sony’s virtual store has apparently been deleted. However, for a while, a new console version of the online role-playing game, New World: Aeternum, appeared under “Sponsored”.

What is the truth behind the leak? Whether this is actually an early release by Sony or a fake cannot be said with any certainty from a distance. What is clear, however, is that there were already indications that Amazon Games could announce a console version of New World at the Summer Game Fest.
On June 4, 2024, MeinMMO reported that the developers of the MMORPG are introducing a new server structure that relies on so-called splitters. These are different copies of the game world on which the population of the MMORPG will be better distributed in the future. Apparently, the operator is expecting a rush of players in the foreseeable future.

Almost at the same time, those responsible at Amazon Games teased an “exciting announcement for New World”. Since the last expansion, “Rise of the Angry Earth,” was unable to raise the number of players to a level that would justify extensive adjustments to the server structure, we also speculated that a console version of New World would be announced.
