A new expansion for Final Fantasy 14, Dawntrail, will be released next year. Exciting content will continue even after the expansion is released. Maybe that could appease the angry fans.
Why are fans angry? The final expansion of the Hydaelyn saga, Endwalker, was released on December 3, 2021. Since then, the story has only been advanced through smaller patches. Although there is new content in the updates, they do not satisfy fans.
As PCGamer reports, there are several points of criticism:
Instead, Square Enix would always proceed according to the same principle: for every patch with an odd number there is an Alliance raid, for every patch with an even number there is a Savage raid.
Accordingly, there is a fear that this pattern could continue after the release of Dawntrail. But producer Naoki Yoshida has already hinted at some features that will make it into the game after release.
The following trailer shows what we can expect with Dawntrail:
Final Fantasy 14 is getting a lot of new content
What new content is coming? In a post in the reddit forum, a user put together what new content Square Enix is planning. Yoshi-P responded to some of the questions from fans and answered them satisfactorily.
After the release of version 7.0, i.e. the Dawntrail update, the team will focus on new features. This includes the following content:
Yoshida also answered a few questions for the amusement of fans. For example, one player wrote that he was a “cat person.” Yoshida, on the other hand, replied that he was more of a “wolf type”. Fans make fun of this and joke that the Miqote should be replaced by wolves.
It is not clear when exactly the suggested content will come. The developers would take the time they need. Accordingly, it remains to be seen how well the release of Dawntrail will go and when there will be time to work on new features.
