It’s been over a year since the first trailer for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 was released. Since then, fans of the game series have been waiting for more information about the blockbuster, which is scheduled to appear in 2025. Part of the community is impatiently collecting clues about a date when the next trailer could be released and keeps finding the same number.
When do fans think the trailer will be released? Part of the GTA community believes that the second trailer for GTA 6 could come on December 27, 2024 – this week (via X).
What are these clues? Firstly, there is the license plate of a police car, which can be seen in an image posted by Rockstar Games for the holiday update. If you add all the numbers on the license plate together, you get 27.
Then fans noticed that there were exactly 27 posts on Rockstar Games’ Instagram account. In addition, in a picture from November 2024 that was posted by Rockstar as part of the Heist Challenge, a 27 can be seen on an Akula attack helicopter (via X).
Fans discovered the 27 in the first trailer for GTA 6. There she is after about 27 seconds in a side window of a pink lowrider that is turning right into a yard (via X).

Clear references to a date or complete nonsense?
How plausible is the theory? The entire theory surrounding the number 27 and the “clues” collected are absolute nonsense. If a trailer actually comes out on December 27th, it would be a complete coincidence and has nothing to do with the “hints”.
You could come up with a theory about literally any number. If you look for a specific number, you will always find it. But that doesn’t make it a valid theory; it’s simply far-fetched.
What speaks against the theory? The police car’s license plate is pure coincidence. If Rockstar Games never showed a license plate in a picture, then it would be a bit surprising why one would suddenly be visible. But Rockstar constantly has license plates in their pictures and – surprise – the numbers shown on them usually don’t add up to the number 27.

Besides, Rockstar didn’t just post an irrelevant picture of a police car here. The image is part of the announcement that the police car in question, a “Willard Outreach Faction,” is now available for purchase in GTA Online.
In addition, the Akuma attack helicopter from GTA Online always has the number 27 in the design that can be seen in the picture from Rockstar Games. Oh yes, and the Rockstar Games Instagram account now has 28 posts (as of December 25, 2024). So that was nothing either.
When can we expect a new trailer? Nobody can say that at the moment. Experience has shown that Rockstar Games will ramp up marketing about half a year before release – it was similar with GTA V.
However, we currently neither know an exact release date for GTA 6 nor do we know whether it will actually be released as planned in 2025 or whether it will perhaps be postponed. Accordingly, it is difficult to estimate the release of the second trailer.
