The WoW Classic team has surprisingly released an XP buff for the Season of Discovery that promises you twice the experience up to level 39. This relief is being hotly debated in the forums. Not all players are enthusiastic.
What kind of buff is this? The Explorer’s Delight effect is now on the WoW Classic seasonal servers and grants all characters up to level 39 a whopping 100 percent more experience points from all sources.
There was already a comparable relief last month, since the start of the second content phase on February 8, 2024. The goal of the original XP buff: to bring latecomers and secondary characters into the current level range of levels 25 to 40 in a timely manner.
From now on, the expanded version of the Explorer’s Delight takes you almost up to the currently valid maximum level of 40. The developers do not specify a time limit for the effect. If you want, you can deactivate (or reactivate) the buff for each innkeeper.
For some players the buff comes too early
How does the community react? After Blizzard’s announcement, the official WoW forum quickly received more than 90 comments. Some players are happy that they can now reach their goal faster with their supporting characters.
Other players are surprised at the early timing. After all, phase 2 is only about a month old, they say. The first phase ran for almost ten weeks. Why devalue the level phase now, which has always played a comparatively essential role in WoW Classic?

Still other WoW fans argue that in practice many players spend most of their time grinding dungeons in order to gain experience as efficiently as possible. In addition, the phase from 25 to 40 would feel particularly tough, for example because the routes become longer but you don’t yet have a mount (that only comes at level 40).
