What happened 3 years ago? A notable Reddit user named “Kristalizze” (24), caused emotional movement in the community during the early access release of Baldur’s Gate 3 in October 2020.
At a time when many were excitedly awaiting the launch of the game, Kristalizze shared that he had just been given the staggering diagnosis of cancer. Undeterred by the challenges ahead, which required surgery and further treatments, he expressed his determination to take on this fight.

“A fresh start for me and my character!”
He wrote: “I have cancer and today I will have surgery to get rid of it for good (if it goes well) and later I will celebrate with BG3. Today is a wonderful day! A fresh start for me and my character, we will overcome any obstacle we face. But not alone, but with my friends, loved ones and family.”
Kristalizze’s sincere words deeply touched many players and Reddit users. Numerous get well wishes poured in in the comments, along with messages of support from other users fighting similar battles with cancer.
What happened in the meantime? Unfortunately, despite all determination, the operation was not the cure Kristalizze had hoped for. Multiple chemotherapy regimens and more surgeries followed while continuing to post in the Reddit community.
