The Harry Potter saga has been making children and adults dream for more than 20 years. This fantastic universe imagined by JK Rowling could today make the biggest fans want to live a unique experience. Do you remember, when you read or saw in the cinema for the first time Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone ? In the plot, Harry Potter uses a mythical means of transport, which will be mentioned several times in the other parts of the saga. This is of course the Hogwarts Express. What if we told you that you could be the next driver of this steam train?
A job with no prior experience, which pays 60,000 euros per year
Until November 18, 2023, Scottish transport company ScotRail is recruiting new train drivers for the West Highland Line, connecting the ports of Mallaig and Oban, passing through the cities of Glasgow and Fort William. This region of Scotland may not mean anything to you and yet, certain emblematic places were used for the sets of the saga Harry Potter, notably the Glenfinnan Viaduct. A working environment that can make more than one dream.
On the job offer, visible on the site hijobs.net, it is specified that the company is looking for full-time positions for trainee drivers, aged over 20, ideally with a driving license. There is no prior experience necessary. Applicants only need to pass specific vision and hearing tests, drug and alcohol screening, and have certain qualities (good interpersonal skills, being positive and focused). A flexible approach to schedules is also required. If your application is successful, you will have training over two years, combining practice and theory.
The salary is likely to interest more than one since trainees within ScotRail are initially paid 32,968 pounds, or approximately 37,800 euros per year. Once they are qualified, the salary increases after nine months to 52,566 pounds per year, which is approximately 60,253 euros per year. Ultimately, when they become drivers, they can expect to earn £58,028 per year, which works out to over €66,000 per year. To this, we also add employee benefits: free train travel and reduced fares for your loved ones, vacation allowance, discounts in certain stores, etc. So ready to drop everything for this magical job?
