The famous American actor Ray Liotta, who debuted in Martin Scorsese’s crime classic Goodfellas and had many successful performances, passed away. Liotta died in her sleep in the Dominican Republic, where she filmed Dangerous Waters.
Liotta was nominated for a Golden Globe for Something Wild, directed by Jonathan Demme, and subsequently played the banned Chicago superstar Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams. He then played the defining role of his career, the mobster Henry Hill, opposite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in Scorsese’s mob epic Goodfellas.
Goodfellas, adapted from Nicholas Pileggi’s book with Scorsese, was nominated for six Oscars, with Pesci the only winner. The film frequently tops lists of the greatest movies of all time. Other memorable roles of the actor include Hannibal, Narc, Blow, Copland, Killing Them Softly and Revolver.
