Family stole goods worth 150,000 from grocery store

A family of eight has systematically stolen goods from a grocery store in Karlskrona.

The food thefts must have taken place on 17 occasions during the last two months at Ica Maxi in Karlskrona. It is a gang of eight people who are suspected of being involved in the thefts that should have been carried out in the self-scan. The individuals must have filled a cart with items, scanned and paid for the cheapest item, and then left the location with the full cart.

– It is a family with men, women and even children who were involved, says Ica trader Joakim Melin to Sydöstran.

Snuggled a gaming chair

The family is said to have grabbed all kinds of goods – in addition to food, clothes and a gaming chair are also said to have been stolen. The thieves are said to have set an approach in the system where they tricked the staff at the tills and then left the place without being detected.

– We have been hit hard, says Andreas Ahlqvist, one of the store managers to Sydöstran.

Goods worth 150,000

The thefts were discovered when one of the people in the league was arrested and the store staff went through the surveillance footage. The value of the stolen goods is estimated to be at least SEK 150,000, but the figure may rise as the store has not yet finished counting.

– You get sad, disappointed and cursed, says Joakim Melin.

The store has reported the thefts to the police and the police will now continue to review surveillance footage from the scene.
