Thing in summary

Johanna Matintalo You finally get back into action when Falun is skiing the World Cup this coming weekend. Matintalo has suffered from a calf injury this winter and had to suspend the Tour de Skin before the last stage.

Already after the Tour, Matintalo had made a rehabilitation program with his team to see that he was in Falun’s condition at the latest. The rehabilitation schedule has kept and gone as planned.

– I finally have my own feeling. It has been long in January and the beginning of February. I’ve been waiting for quite a few weeks for this coming weekend, Matintalo said.

Matintalo has not taken anything for granted during rehabilitation, as even a small problem could have ruined the schedule. During the weekend, during the Vantaa Finnish Cup, he did a race in Rovaniemi at home, and it did not become any negative feelings.

“That’s why I would say that everything is fine,” he said.

Too hard a place

During the Matintalo rehabilitation period, the Finnish Cup and three World Cup weekends have been skied. Matintalo looked at the results of these races, but admitted that he did not follow every start.

– I am a type of athlete that when there are competitions that should be involved when everything is in order, it is difficult to look at them on the couch. Some of the starters, to be honest, was left, because it was a bit too hard.

Although it has been difficult to follow the site, Matintalo has also gained more motivation. The situation has also been facilitated by the fact that the injury did not decide through him, but still have a good chance of getting to the Trondheim World Cup.

Matintalo also knows what kind of circus he jumps back when he dresses his chest. He has not been able to optimally prepare for the race weekend and the injury has influenced the traditional training of skiing, but Matintalo knows his basic level, especially in the traditional, so he wants to get as close to it as possible.

– Honestly, I don’t have any certain investments in mind. Must be realistic with expectations and I don’t want to set them too high. However, I would like the result to be reasonable, Matintalo said.

– Above all, I would like to make the skiing feel good for all these things. However, there is still time for Trondheim. I believe that all weeks and days will move the situation forward.

The sigh of relief is still waiting

Matintalo’s hard -working exercise at the weekend was quite good for the feeling. Now he hopes to get more of the Napsu to that feeling.

– In a way, I look forward to seeing what your own performance is in Falun. Then I can compare that feeling with this exercise. When I get it a couple of weeks for it, it is common sense that the feeling and doing should only improve.

Matintalo is also realistic in his expectations for Trondheim. He hopes that the feeling and the results go hand in hand.

– If the feeling improves and the result is pretty good in Falun, then I am confident towards Trondheim going. I hope I get surprised positively!

Although Matintalo has been relieved to get back to the racing tracks, he admits that he will hold his greatest relief over the weekend. At first, he wants to be absolutely sure that everything is fine and he will survive the weekend intact.

For some time, Matintalo has been able to practice relatively fully in all forms and techniques, but certain things have to be taken into account.

– I couldn’t quite think about doing everything. Falun is a very single start of my rehabilitation process so far. Now Falun sees how the foot reacts to the load. Everything has gone so well until now that I’m really confident, Matintalo said.

– When I get my foot out of the weekend without problems and the Falun weekend is successfully behind, I believe I can breathe in relief.
