The series led to a massive increase in sales of the Fallout video game series, resulting in the game rising a remarkable 7,500% on the European sales charts.
Fallout Series Dominates the European Gaming Market
To increase the popularity of the Fallout series, Bethesda made significant discounts on Fallout games on all platforms. This strategy has enabled at least four Fallout games to top the European Top 10 list. While Fallout 4 made 69% of its sales on PC, the remaining 39% was on PlayStation and Xbox platforms. It is also stated that subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus Extra and Amazon’s Luna platform contribute to the game’s play rates, but this data is not included in the sales figures.

Fallout 76, which has faced criticism for its online multiplayer, ranks eighth on the charts, accounting for 85% of its sales on PC. On the other hand, Fallout: New Vegas, which was released in 2010 and still remains popular, ranks ninth, followed by Fallout 3.
Industry experts predict that the vitality of the Fallout series will continue to increase as the popularity of the TV series continues. This can be compared to the impact of Netflix’s first series inspired by the “The Witcher” series and HBO’s successful “The Last of Us” series. This increase in game sales highlights how popular TV shows based on beloved game franchises promote and market games.
