Bethesda has introduced the upcoming update for Fallout 76. The focus is on a new raid for endgame players including a difficult boss. Apart from that, there are other innovations.
What was announced? The December update brings some new content to Fallout 76, which is one of the best survival games on the market in 2024. The update was presented in a presentation on the occasion of Fallout Day on October 23, 2024.
This includes a new raid called “Radiant Depths”. There will also be pets for your own camp, the option to fish and transform into a ghoul at a certain level. Let’s take a look at the innovations in detail.
A raid for players in the endgame
What is the raid about? Radiant Depths takes players to an underground research facility in the Ash Heap area. The Enclave operated there and dealt with the radioactive material ultracite.
Now we have to find out what happened in the facility. The players have to face several fights in teams of four – because the laboratory is full of enemies. Once you’ve started, there’s no turning back: “You win or you die,” says Creative Director John Rush, describing the raid during the presentation on YouTube.
At the end, the final boss called Ultrazithorror awaits the brave adventurers. According to developer Erin Bower, he is the biggest boss in the game so far, and perhaps even the biggest in the entire history of Fallout.
To defeat him and complete the raid, you need a level of 300 or higher. It is also important that the teams coordinate well and have high-level equipment. The “Radiant Depths” should feel like a traditional MMO dungeon and really challenge the players in the end game.

How to play as a ghoul? Another new feature that some players will probably be happy about is the option to transform into one of the creepy wasteland inhabitants. This is possible from level 50 and is associated with a quest.
What else does the update bring? A new activity, fishing, was also announced. There will be more information on this towards the end of the year. What is certain so far is that you can fish at every waterhole.
Anyone who doesn’t want to fish for animals but would rather keep them in their own camp will soon be able to do that too. Players have to choose between a dog and a cat. In both cases, the furry companion moves into the camp and can be equipped with various accessories, such as collars.
Fallout 76 is getting some exciting new features with the December update. If you haven’t ventured into the wasteland yet, you can test the game for free until October 29, 2024.
