After almost 9 years on the market, Fallout 4 is getting an upgrade. This means you can finally play the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 60 FPS. There are also a few free goodies.
This is what Bethesda announces:
This is in the update: Anyone who plays Fallout 4 on PS5 or Xbox Series
PC gamers get widescreen and ultra-widescreen support. There are also fixes and updates for various content such as quests on all platforms.
Along with the update, a new quest is coming into play that introduces the Enclave to Fallout 4. New items appear in the Creation Club:
The update is free for all Fallout 4 owners.
At the moment, the Fallout series is exciting fans:
Players have doubted whether the upgrade will even come
Just a few hours before the announcement, a user on Reddit asked what the upgrade was and received the cynical answer: “It won’t happen.” The next-gen upgrade was actually planned for 2023.
However, in December there was an official statement that the upgrade was not expected until 2024 (via Twitter). At the time, people mainly blamed the release of Starfield for this.
Although Fallout 4 is almost 9 years old, the game still has over 25,000 players on Steam alone (via steamcharts) – more than the newest part Fallout 76. There are also users on the other platforms as well as via GOG and with the update in the Epic Games Store.
The community is apparently still very attached to the end-of-time title, which introduced a real construction system to the series for the first time. However, as is well known, mods are also likely to play an important role – they are usually the reason why Bethesda games run much longer than planned. However, the Fallout series also has its own charm and is one of the best end times games you can play right now.
