Faker and his team T1 lose the record final, are bitterly taunted with a truck

In South Korea, the MOBA League of Legends has different dimensions than here in Europe: the final of the national championship was held there on August 20th. Faker’s team, T1, lost the final of the LCK and now has to be mocked. LoL fans rented a truck.

What was that match? For many years, there has been a feud between T1, Faker’s team, and Samsung Galaxy, now called “Gen G”, in South Korean LoL.

In 2017, Samsung Galaxy snatched his 4th World Championship nose from the superstar Faker, although T1 was actually always the better team. Back then, Faker cried: The pictures of defeated Faker are legendary to this day.

Since then, both teams have come up against each other again and again. For a long time, Faker had the edge, but he was never able to win a world championship again in all the years after he was denied the crown in 2017.

T1 is no longer the power in South Korea

But the tide has turned in recent months. Meanwhile, Gen G. is ahead:

  • While Faker has excellent teammates in players like Keria, Faker himself has been injured for a long time and is now 27 years old
  • Gen G., the old rivals, on the other hand, have bought a mega team: their mid-laner Chovy in particular is an exceptional performer. In the jungle they have an old player from T1 in Peanut (25), on the top lane they have a huge talent in Doran (23). To make matters worse, they raised a 17-year-old prodigy from their own youth team in 2022, Peyz. He now dominates the botlane.
  • At the weekend, the giants duel for victory in the LCK 2023 Summer Playoffs
  • Record viewer numbers, but a one-sided match

How did the match go? The match did set a record viewership: 1,528,729 spectators watched, more than ever before in the history of an LCK final (via dotesports).

But the game was over quickly, because Gen G. wiped the floor with T1: the team was finished off with 3-0.

“Our Lord and Savior” Chovy took the crown and the MVP title.

    “Our Lord and Savior”: Chovy.

Truck goes straight for the team’s ADC

This was the truck: Fans rented a truck and sent it around the Seoul area where T1’s headquarters is located.

    The message on the truck:

“I hope player trash talk is as aggressive as their damage/gold. All of the heroes you play are as effective as a toothpick in your hands—except Xayah.”

The truck is believed to have been sent to their team by the fans of T1 themselves.

What do you mean with that? This is apparently an allusion to T1’s ADC, Guayusa (21), who has been identified as a loudmouth who talks a lot but does not perform, as is alleged.

In fact, Gumayusi looked pretty old in the duel with Gen G. He didn’t get any kills in the first 2 games and only 3 kills in the third. His opponent, Peyz, 4 years his junior, racked up a whopping 34 kills, while Gumayusi died 13 times (via reddit).

Naturally, Gen G. banned Xayah first in every game. This is the only hero that Gumayusi has looked good with against Gen G in previous encounters.

How is this discussed? The Korea expert LS criticizes this action. He says fans who do something like that don’t want anyone at all. These are “damn clowns.”

Others say T1’s fans have developed an unhealthy emotional relationship with their team. That is also the fault of the organization, which always emphasizes how much they love their fans.

LS has a very special relationship with T1, he also felt “the fans’ truck” back then:
