Police said officers were sent to the area of 600 Murphy Road on Friday after a report of a man wielding a hammer and found the glass of a bus shelter had been smashed while about 30 people waited at a terminal.

No one was injured and a suspect was quickly found and taken into custody without incident, police said. Police said they discovered there had been an earlier incident where it’s alleged a suspect followed an older woman to her car in a parking lot on Afton Drive and repeatedly struck the vehicle with a hammer.

The woman drove away while a suspect followed on foot waving the hammer, police say.

Police said the woman wasn’t injured but damage to her vehicle was extensive. A 29-year-old Sarnia resident has been charged with mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a release order and probation.
