The new monitoring system, a module-based platform, was procured by Region Skåne for a value of around SEK 32 million. This year, they have started to introduce the system in 101 ambulances in the region, writes Kristianstadsbladet.
Among other things, the system must be able to measure ECG, blood pressure and oxygen saturation, and have two-way communication with hospitals and ambulances. But some incidents and errors that “could seriously affect the health of patients” have occurred, according to the operational manager of the ambulance. Twelve different incidents are listed in a list of incidents.
For example, problems with taking EKGs have been reported. Blood pressure readings have been incorrect, which could have caused incorrect treatments. There have also been problems with sending over measurement results to the hospitals, despite the fact that, according to the manufacturer, the devices should be able to communicate seamlessly with each other.
There have also been problems with the connection.
Kristianstadsbladet has contacted the company that manufactured the monitoring system for a comment.
