The 48-year-old man really wanted a driver’s license – but had difficulty with the theory. Over the course of two years, he wrote the theory test 86 times, but was not even close to passing, it reports South Sweden.
But then at his 87th attempt in a theory room in Malmö, he is discovered by the Swedish Transport Agency’s staff.
The cheat: Earpiece
The examiner tells in questioning that the man turned anxious and tried to hide the screen of his exam computer – which made him suspect wrongdoing.
After a beating in the 48-year-old’s history, the judge found that the man had tried to pass the test as recently as a week earlier with the modest result of 24 points out of a possible 65. Which is far from the 52 points required for a pass.
And very true: When the judge asked the man to take off the Swedish Transport Agency’s headphones, he had attached his earpiece with Velcro inside them.
“Never cheated before”
In the 48-year-old’s pocket was 14,000 kroner in cash.
The man tells in questioning that he was offered help by a person he encountered in the Swedish Transport Agency’s premises. The strategy was to click on the computer’s hearing function to have the questions read out – and then a voice answered them in the earpiece he had with him.
The 48-year-old denies that the large amount of cash he had in his pocket was intended to pay the helper.
– I have done many tests and never used any cheats before, the 48-year-old states in questioning.
Test cost: SEK 28,000
The confrontation has now led to the 48-year-old man being prosecuted for gross false assurance.
The total cost of the 87 theory tests comes to over SEK 28,000.
