Facebook rolls out end to end encryption in Messenger group conversations

Deploying end-to-end encryption in Facebook Messenger is a long and complex story.

If the social network already offered all users end-to-end encryption of conversations by activating its Secret Conversation function in individual discussions, conversations, group audio and video calls, were not affected so far. by this protection.

It is now settled. After several months of testing, Facebook has just announced that end-to-end encryption for group conversations as well as for audio and video calls has now been rolled out to all users of the platform.

The social network also took advantage of this deployment to announce another novelty. Like what exists on its Vanish mode, Facebook will automatically send you a notification when one of your correspondents takes a screenshot in end-to-end encrypted conversations where ephemeral messages are activated. This feature will be rolling out to all users gradually over the next few weeks.

Finally, Facebook announced the arrival of other new features in Messenger’s encrypted conversations. You can now brighten them up with GIFs and stickers, react to posted messages, reply to a message by quoting it, see when a correspondent is typing on their keyboard, forward a message, edit your videos before send them, or even save the photos and videos received in these conversations after a long press.
