FAA first 40 inspections of Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft

(Finance) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States said they were inspections of a first group of Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft have been completed that had been grounded. This is a step forward in the story that originated on January 5, 2024, when a piece of the fuselage broke off from a Boeing 737 MAX 9 ofAlaska Airlinesshortly after takeoff from Portland (Oregon), forcing the plane to make an emergency landing.

The FAA has grounded 171 Boeing 737-9 MAX planes and is investigating now on Boeing’s manufacturing practices and production lines, including those involving subcontractor Spirit AeroSystems, strengthening its oversight of Boeing and examining potential system changes.

Last Friday, the FAA announced requirements for a rigorous inspection and maintenance process as a new and necessary step before the FAA considers any additional steps in the process to return Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft to service. Today he said that the first 40 inspections that are part of this process are now completed and the FAA ne will carefully examine the data.

All 737-9 MAX aircraft with door plugs will remain grounded pending review by the FAA and thefinal approval of an inspection and maintenance process that meets all FAA safety requirements, we read in a statement. Once the FAA approves an inspection and maintenance process, it will be required on every grounded 737-9 MAX prior to future operation.
