The 17th Grand Prix of the season takes place this Sunday in Azerbaijan. Find the start time of the race won by Sergio Perez last year.
Don’t miss the start of the always spectacular Azerbaijan Grand Prix! Attention, the schedule is brought forward compared to the last races held at Spa, Zandvoort or Monza. See you from 1pm this Sunday, the time when the single-seaters will set off for 51 laps of this circuit designed in the city, sometimes tortuous, often tricky but also ultra fast with its interminable final straight. The race is broadcast live on Canal +.
After seven races in a row on the European continent, the Formula 1 drivers are back on the Asian border this weekend, where they took part in the Japanese and Chinese Grands Prix in the spring. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then and the hierarchy on the track has changed somewhat. Dominant at the start of the season, Max Verstappen has lost the thread in recent weeks to the point that he has not won any of the last six races! The lead of the three-time reigning world champion, whose last victory dates back to June 23 in Barcelona, has significantly reduced to the point that the suspense in the world championship has been somewhat revived.
His runner-up, Lando Norris, has closed in on the Dutchman to within 62 points, which still leaves the Red Bull driver with a nice little cushion with eight races to go in the season. Especially since Norris now has the best car on the grid, the McLaren he shares with Oscar Piastri has been the most efficient for some time, even though Mercedes and Ferrari have also shown progress.
Lando Norris, however, put himself in a difficult position for his operation to climb back up the world championship by failing to perform in Q1, the first part of qualifying on Saturday. The Briton will only start from 17th place, far behind Max Verstappen, who was a modest 6th, and far from playing for the pole position finally won by Charles Leclerc in his Ferrari. Will the new situation still be in place this Sunday? The battle promises to be fierce in the streets of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
