F 21 in Luleå sends JAS plane to Poland in NATO insert

From April to June, the JAS plan with pilots and service personnel will be based in Poland to patrol Polish airspace and be part of NATO’s air monitoring.

This is the first time Sweden has participated in fighter aircraft in NATO’s advanced defense, according to the government.

– It aims to deter an attack or, in the worst case, conduct defense if the alliance were to be subjected to armed attack, says Pål Jonson.

They will work in NATO’s northern area for air surveillance.

Protect ukrainal deliveries

The government also wants up to eight Gripenplan this summer to protect NATO’s operations in Poland, NSATU, to support and coordinate weapons deliveries to Ukraine. NSATU is in place in Poland with staff, buildings and stands.

“The protection is central to the military and civil material support for Ukraine to continue,” says Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M).
